Four beautiful ship models, suspended by heavy iron chains from the ceiling, remind us of the splendor as well as the dangers throughout the history of a great trade and Hanseatic city.
In earlier times, trade ships were accompanied by such warships for protection against pirates. The oldest model originates from the year 1545. The cannons on board this artistically crafted model can actually be loaded and fired. In past centuries they were put into action to herald festive occasions.
