(LAGS), together with their counterpart organisations in Gdańsk.
Objectives: The project strengthens municipal cooperation between Gdańsk and Bremen in the fields of inclusion, participation and town twinning. It promotes inclusion at both the local and European levels.
The project "United in Diversity! Inclusion in Dialogue: Gdańsk–Bremen" combines the European spirit with local ties. People with and without disabilities from Gdańsk and Bremen visit each other. They share ideas and experiences. They also explore good examples of inclusive structures in both cities.
The project includes two visits that bring people together:
The project is also presented to the public.
At the end of the project, the partners publish a list of recommendations. It shows how international exchanges can be inclusive. It also presents good examples of inclusive structures in Gdańsk and Bremen. Other cities can use these recommendations. This includes our shared partner region, the Odesa Oblast, and the Department of International Cooperation and Protocol of the Odesa Regional State (Military) Administration.
More than 100 young musicians from Poland and Germany came together in Bremen to make music. The inclusive Vita Activa Orchestra from Gdańsk was also part of the event. The musicians practised for the gala concert at the University of the Arts Bremen. They also took part in workshops together. Representatives of the Vita Activa Orchestra from Gdańsk also visited the Blaumeier-Atelier in Bremen. The first visit was supported by a delegation from the City of Gdańsk, led by Deputy Mayor Monika Chabior. The delegation visited different places related to democracy, inclusion and culture. They discussed democracy with colleagues at the Bremen Parliament and learned more about the topic during a visit to EuropaPunkt Bremen. The delegation also met Bremen's State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Arne Frankenstein. They visited Martinshof to learn more about employment opportunities for people with disabilities in Bremen. At the end of the visit, the young musicians gave a gala concert to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the town twinning partnership between Bremen and Gdańsk.
